Luan de Burgh
Luan trained as a voice teacher at the Central School of Speech and Drama (M.A.Voice and Speech) and as an actor at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London and the École Jacques Lecoq in Paris.
Luan is a guest lecturer at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, having worked on the Contemporary Drama course (in collaboration with director Brian Stirner and movement coach Vanessa Mildenberg) and on the European Greats course. He teaches on the MA Voice Studies Course at the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he has also taught 'Personal Voice Power' for
Luan coaches a portfolio of private clients ranging from those in politics and business to medicine, law, media, teaching and academia. He regularly coaches Members of Parliament (front bench and back bench from both the UK and abroad) in public speaking.
As well as politicians, Luan has coached clients from numerous companies including: BBC, UBS, Citigroup, Northgate Capital, Lloyds TSB, Allen & Overy, CMS, Aardman Animators, BUPA, X4G, Shell UK, GlaxoSmithKline, and has delivered workshops in leading public schools. He is a consultant voice and presentation trainer for Skillstudio.
As an actor, Luan worked on the stage for more than a decade in the UK, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland, performing in plays ranging from Shakespeare to devised physical theatre and has played in a variety of venues including The Globe Theatre in London, Vancouver's Waterfront Theatre and the Maidment Theatre in Auckland. Luan has also successfully produced a number of plays in London and on tour through his production company Purple Fish Productions.
He is a voice over and spoken word artist and has recorded commercials, talking books, audio descriptions, documentaries, language aides, film dubbing and more besides for such companies as the BBC, LBC, CBC, Visiontext and many more. Luan was a regular contributor on the Sandi Toksvig show on LBC 97.3
He is a member of Equity and the International Centre for Voice.
Prior to focusing on voice and performance, Luan gained his BA in Medieval History and MA in British Imperial and Commonwealth History at King's College, London. He has a Grade A Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults from the University of Cambridge.
